Penacova was a delightful semi alpine village, east of Coimbra (about the middle of Portugal). We climbed (struggled) up to an ancient fort where we counted 16 villages. Very spectacular (the photo does not do it justice).
Lovely rural aspect and so old!!!! I loved walking around the villages at night. It resonates with something inside me:) European genes? Looking good Gretel!
